I haven't been the world's best blogger lately. I've been busy I guess. Lots going on around here and sometimes I don't even get a free moment to catch my breath. All good stuff, just busy.
This weekend I got 24 hours of girl time! My friend Paula, who I've had the longest (since pre-school) is getting married and her cousin threw her a girls-night dinner party in SF! It was a blast. I got to visit Shelly and have wine with her at a cute new wine bar down the street from her house, then go to Paula's dinner party. We laughed, and laughed, and laughed. Of course, a lot of time was spent talking about kids, but the time to myself was totally appreciated!
I found out that Charlotte has developed a passion for digging in the dirt. No huge surprise here. However, she enjoyed it so much that when Bob went upstairs in the morning to check on her she greeted him with "HI" and then "DIG OUTSIDE!!!" Not, "where's mama?" or "watch Mickey?" or "juice?" which are some of her standards when I'm around. Apparently Bob grilled two bone-in NY Steaks for him and Charlotte and the remainder of what she didn't eat for dinner she had for breakfast! Yep, Dad rolls in style. Apparently she prefers her steaks medium-rare, just like Dada.
Our garden is going off so last night I made homemade pesto using the recipe from my favorite cookbook, The Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking. It turned out delicious. We had linguine with pesto, sliced heirloom tomatoes (also from the garden) and grilled chicken breasts. Put the rest of the pesto in the freezer for a day when we're all feeling "thin" because I am pretty sure you can gain weight just looking at it!!! We loaded up on great food yesterday and are planning on eating at home (and not in restaurants) for weeks!!! We'll see how long we last...
The tennis team I'm captaining has its last match on Tuesday night. I hope we win. We get a few weeks off before the Fall season starts. Tennis sure takes up a lot of my time but we all seem to be adjusting to the schedule and I don't get as much grief at home anymore. Perhaps the fact that Bob is taking tennis lessons (and recently said he wants to take two lessons a week) means we have succeeded in getting him to "cross over to the dark side"... I used to beat him quite easily. Not so much anymore. Pretty soon he's going to be kicking my butt on a regular basis!
