So much for a planned c-section. The good news is sweet baby girl #2 decided last night to get into the proper "birth" position! Our whole "plan" was in effect this morning and Bob and I showed up at the hospital at 9:30 am. The plan was to get admitted, have a "scan" to confirm the breech position, then prep for surgery. My doctor warned me that her last breech c-section baby turned the night before surgery, so it didn't come as a complete surprise to me when low and behold the scan showed the baby's head down and the legs in my ribcage.
Funny thing was while we were waiting to be admitted I had some sharp jabs in my ribcage. The first of this pregnancy and I thought it was a little strange. Just yesterday the baby's head was in the same spot I was feeling the jabs.
They listened to baby's heart during some sleeping/awake cycles to make sure she was behaving like a healthy baby and sent me home to let nature run its course! While it was sort of a bummer leaving the hospital, nothing ever felt quite right. Like for one, I feel great! I didn't feel anything near great the day I had Charlotte. I am certainly "ready" mentally and at home, but it just didn't seem like it was going to happen this way. I never felt like I was going to be robbed of a "birth experience" by having a c-section, but I didn't really feel like it was time.
And I guess I was right! To be honest, I'd be thrilled to not have a c-section. I don't like the idea of the surgery or the recovery time but I will do it if it is necessary for the health of the baby.
So ...we'll wait and see! The pain in my back/sciatic nerve area has increased in the last 24 hours, so I'm hoping some simple stretches and rest and a little elliptical trainer will ease the pain out. I don't see my doctor again until next Tuesday at which point I will be over-due! Maybe my doctor scheduled the appointment hoping I'd have the baby before next Tuesday?
Stay tuned!
